Happenings in Oshtemo Community Club

I just wanted to send a quick note to let you know what is going on in the Oshtemo Club. We are hosting a fundraiser tonight (Thur 29th)....it is an ice cream social with an amazing Magic Show. The cost is $5 or max $20 per family. Doors open at 6:30pm, show at 7pm ....someone will even get to be picked to float in air!! A great night for family fun. We are hosting the event at the Alamo Elementary School on 6th St. just north of D Ave. Thought if you or your families needed something fun to do tonight you just might want to show up. Also, I thought you might like to know that the club sent out four boxes and notes to military service men in Kuwait that are from the Southwest MI area. We will have a poster showing the Community service night at the fundraiser. We have been very busy in Oshtemo and just wanted to let you know.

Dog Leaders Needed

The Dog Council has a wonderful problem. They have 50 kids signed up with only 3 leaders to facilitate county wide project meetings. In order to safely conduct this project they need a ratio of 15 kids to 1 leader. These meetings are held on Thursdays at 6:30. If you are able to help please contact Kal or Karen VanderWeele @ kkvanderweele@charter.net

Alamo Achievers

The Alamo Achievers 4-H club held their meeting at the Alamo Community Center on May 13, 2008. Their club has grown to over 60 members by inviting friends and providing a quality program.

Portable Pasture Pens for Poultry

The Augusta United 4-H club recently completed making a portable pasture pen for poultry. They built an innovative cage for chickens allowing them to be raised on pasture and have less stress. It is an open-bottom design that is more natural for the birds and eco-friendly. They were able to aquire a Zindel Youth Poultry Science Grant through the Michigan 4-H Foundation to accomplish this.
